Established 1932
CEDES School was founded in 1932, when its founder, Carlos Tercero González, began his teaching career with a group of four or five young students whom he prepared for the entrance examinations to the Commercial Studies programme of that time. Aware of the great opportunities ahead and convinced that he could achieve important advances in education in Albacete, he devoted himself fully to this mission. Years later, during the 1960s, he had fulfilled his dream: the school had become widely recognised for the quality of education it provided and for the outstanding results achieved year after year by its students.
Always looking towards the future, he once again decided it was time to grow. He acquired a large plot of land on Carretera de las Peñas — where the school is located today — and built a boarding residence in order to expand the capacity of the building on Pérez Galdós Street, which was then dedicated entirely to the school itself. In the early 1980s, with the opening of secondary schools in towns across the province, the boarding residence was no longer needed and the building was remodelled to accommodate B.U.P. and C.O.U. studies (today equivalent to Secondary Education and Sixth Form). Primary education remained in the Pérez Galdós building under the state-funded system.
Earlier, when educational innovation was beginning to reshape the sector, he had invested all his effort and modest savings into renting a small premises on San Julián Street where classes could be taught. Before long, the space became too small, prompting another move to a larger and better-equipped location in the former Plaza de la División Azul. Supported by an exceptional team of teachers, the school continued to achieve extraordinary academic results, leading once again to the need for larger facilities. This time, a building on Pérez Galdós Street was purchased, and several nearby apartments were rented to accommodate boarding students arriving from across the province and other cities to study at the school.
As an interesting anecdote, in order to help finance these investments, during the days of the Albacete Fair the boarding facilities were temporarily used as accommodation for fair workers, bullfighters, and visitors.
After the founder’s passing, his three daughters continued the school’s educational work, adapting teaching methods, improving facilities, expanding educational stages, and preserving the spirit their father had instilled in the institution: educating students to become good people, while also providing them with strong academic knowledge.
It was also during this period that the final separation from the school building on Pérez Galdós Street took place, as it was transferred to the existing staff under a cooperative model, in accordance with the founder’s wishes as stated in his will.
In the 1990s, the majority of the third generation of the family joined both the educational and business sides of the institution. Combining experience with new enthusiasm and ideas, they made a firm commitment to the continuity of the family project. As a result, in 2005 the new Early Years Education Centre was opened, followed in 2012 by the inauguration of the new Primary Education facilities and the Sports Hall.

Today, the members of the third generation continue to teach inspired by the example, enthusiasm, and determination of the founder of our institution, striving to bring together and coordinate the very best professionals in order to provide our students with the highest quality personal and academic education.

Many students have passed through our classrooms over the years, some of whom have gone on to become highly respected figures in fields such as Science, Politics, Journalism, and Medicine. We remember them all with great affection and extend our sincerest gratitude for the trust they placed in the School. That trust remains evident today, as many continue to entrust us with the education of their children — and even their grandchildren.
