Colegio CEDES was born in 1932 when its founder, Carlos Tercero González started teaching a group of 4 or 5 children who he was preparing for the access tests to “Peridaje Mercantil” (Merchandise Expertise) of that time, conscious of the …. Ahead of him and convinced that he could make important innovations in the teaching world, he invested all of his efforts and small amount of savings in the rent of a small premises on Calle San Julián in which to teach.

After only a short time this premises became too small and he decided to look for a bigger property in better conditions, in the old Plaza de la División Azul. Along with an excellent group of teachers, he continued to obtain extraordinary results and as a consequence, this brought a need to change premises yet again, as they had once more become too small. This time, he acquired a building on Calle Pérez Galdós, and rented some apartments in the surrounding area, as he needed more space in which students who came from around the province and from other cities could board in order to study at the school. As an anecdote, remarkably, as a means to afford the cost of the investment, during the days the Fair of Albacete was celebrated, the boarding facilities were utilized as a lodging for people who travelled with the fair, bull fighters and visitors to the city.

Years later, in the 1960´s, his dream was realised, he had achieved external recognition for the school for the quality of the teaching and for the excellent results that year after year its students were attaining. Again he looked to the future and this time he acquired a large site on Carretera de las Peñas (where the school is situated today), on which he constructed a building intended for boarding in order to increase the capacity of the building on Calle Pérez Galdós, using this solely as the school. At the beginning of the 1980s, with the arrival of secondary schools to the villages of the province, he was forced to do away with the boarding element, and the building was remodelled to teach B.U.P and C.O.U. (nowadays E.S.O and Bachillerato), leaving the E.G.B. in the building on Calle Pérez Galdós as a concerted school.

After his death, his three daughters continued teaching, adapting methodology, facilities and extending educational levels while maintaining the spirit with which their father had endowed the school: educated its students to make them exceptional people as well as conveying to them the knowledge of the educational programme. At this time there was also a definitive separation from the school on Calle Pérez Galdós, which was handed over to the existing staff as a cooperative, fulfilling the will of its founder.

In the 1990s, large part of the third generation of the family commence teaching and administration work in the school, and with the combination of experience and fresh hopes, the continuity of the family business is assured, in such a way that in the year 2005 the new Infants’ School is opened, followed in 2012 by the new Primary School and Sports Hall.

At present, the members of the third generation are still teaching, inspired by the example, hopes and tenacity of the founder of our institution, striving to combine and coordinate the best professionals in order to afford our students a personal and academic education of the highest standards.

Many students have been in our classrooms over the years, some of these of recognised prestige in the field of Science, Politics, Journalism and Medicine…, to all of them our most sincere gratitude for the faith they put in the school, a trust that is preserved in entrusting us with the education of their children, and in some cases even grandchildren.
